synonyms question
Hi,
does someone now the relationship between black plum and prune noire ? Are they the same variety or different ? A friend has black plum and says they are dry and "mealy/tarty(?)" but I never had that problem with prune noire. Can "mealyness" be influenced by our cultivation routines or is it something inherent to some varieties indeed ? regards, Peter |

When I went to Ventmarin, the French site, and a couple of other sites in Europe I did find it and I also found that there's a Prune Rouge and a Prune Jaunne and more, which says to me that possibly someone somewhere bred them. But since I haven't grown Prune Noir but have grown Black Plum, I really can't make any comparisons. Mealiness is usually a function of the weather as I see it. For me the gold/red bicolors are most apt to express that, but I don't remember any specific variety always being mealy.
