ARGG not
I got my plants from Darrel @ select plants and my ARGG is not a beeksteak.
It is indeed a green when ripe and sweet. It is a RL plant with the fruit about the size of a ping pong ball. Green at the stem end and blushed on the blossom end. Green inside with 3 lobes. Any idea what this might be? Thanks Brian |

I looked at his list of cherries that were available this season and he was offering Green Grape, but that's never as large as a ping pong ball, and he wasn't offering Green Doctors, another green when ripe. I then looked at Tania's site for the green when ripes, but something like Lime Green Salad would be in the ballpark but he wasn't offering that one either, as far as I can recall. Recall, hmmm, I was just at his website less than 5 minutes ago. So much for short term memory problems. So I can't match up what he was offering with what you describe and since you say it is a green when ripe I think you should contact him directly, preferably, or wait until he comes along and sees your thread title and realizes that someone is asking about a possible not ARGG they got from him.

I have called Darrel and left a message with him.
I am not making this post out of disappointment by any means. I am just trying to find the variety as this is one of the best tasting tomatoes that I have tasted in the last few years. I will save a few seeds from this plant and have my buddy start them in his greenhouse next year. I will try to grow a few plants again next year. I got two of these ARGG and gave one away. I will check with her and see what type of fruit she is getting off of her plant. Every one that tastes this tomato just love it once they get past the idea of eating a green tomato. The only thing is that it is thinned skinned and has seen quite a bit of splitting due to water. Other that that all I can say is YUM. Brian |

I'm also thinking you got Aunt Ruby's German Green Cherry.

They are getting 8 hours of sun per day so i do not think that is the issue.
It very well could be ARGG cherry. The description is spot on on Tatiana's website. All that I know is they are one tastey tomato. Thanks for your help. Brian |

The problem with ARGG cherry as a possibility is that Darrel isn't offering that variety this season. The ones he's offering are those marked with a star. As I said above, the first place I went to was to Darrel's site to see what cherries he was offering. Brian, I'm glad you did call him and leave a message and hopefully he will turn up here and help solve the problem.

Some years back I received ARGG seeds from Sand Hill and rather than beefsteak sized fruit mine were salad sized. When I asked about it, the explanation was that some plants gave small tomatoes. On the Sand Hill site even today the ARGG description of two sizes is there.
I don't remember what I did next, but the next batch of seeds grew out to be beefsteak sized. Could this be the situation again? I saved seeds from both and they each grew tomatoes the size of the parent.

Mine must be the salad type as they are bigger than a cherry. They weigh 1 to 2 ozs.
The taste of these are a bit sweeter and have a bit more jell than the beefsteak type. Just love them. Brian |

ARRG Cherry isn't a ping pong beefsteak shape, rather it's a round, cherry with clear skin.
