Anyone else growing Golden Cherokee and or Barlow Jap for the first time?

I'm really looking forward to growing and tasting both of these varities. Especially Golden Cherokee after seeing Ted's awsome picture last year. I've also heard great reviews on Barlow Jap. Also giving Wow cherry a go this year, couldn't help myself after reading about it here.

I found the backstory of the Barlow Jap to be very interesting, I definitely plan making a seed request after this season and help growing it out next year.

I'm only growing the Purple this year, but last year my Cherokee greens produced some real beauties (some uglies too), I was really surprise at the rich, vibrant Green color. I can just imagine how nice the golden variety will look come pickin time.

I got seed for Barlow Jap and Wow Cherry for this year. After the post here, I'm anxious to see how good both are.

I did grow Golden Cherokee last year and got a decent amount of seed. But I had too many new-to-me varieties to give them all good attention and wasn't able to actually taste it. I hope to do a better job of that stuff this year as I have a bit of help for that now.

I'm growing Golden Cherokee for the first time as well. I've only grown the Purple before, not the Green (but will soon!).

I've seen Golden Cherokee described as a 'sport' of Cherokee Green. What's a 'sport'? A cross, a spontaneous mutation? Something else?

Yes, Golden Cherokee, Barlow Jap and Wow! all have germinated and are anxiously anticipated here, too. My first time growing all of them. Such an exciting time of year!

I am growing GC this year. It is about 2ft. tall with several blossoms on it. No "babies" as of yesterday. Suze reported that if conditions are drier and warmer, it tends to stay more red.

I'm growing Barlow Jap for the first time. 100% germination, plants are about 18" tall with flowers. Like others, I anxiously await the tasting of this one.

Balow Jap for the first time also. Many great anticipations for the harvest. Thanks to Heather and the other swappers from Tville who share their bounty of seeds with other swappers. It's always nice to try something new.

Barlow Jap has been one of my favorite tomatoes for a few years now. It's one of my first slicers to ripen, is quite disease resistant, produces very well throughout the season... irreguardless of weather conditions. and keeps producing right up to a killing frost. Did I mention it's taste?
While it's not a Brandywine or Brandywine cross, which many know I favor, it was my #1 pink slicer this past season which was very hot and dry here. The year before was extremely wet and it still came in high on my list. (#6). It's a great tomato! Both in taste and production.
I've grown Golden Cherokee in the past, also. Not near as impressive. I think I rated it at #50 the year I grew it. Not one that was invited back.
Grew Cherokee Green the same year. It was ranked at #25 and was much more superior in both taste and production over Golden Cherokee. Good Luck with them both.
