Question about Granny Cantrell...
I have grown this variety for several years but recently have heard there is a PL version. Does anyone have information about this?

Yes there is a PL version. This is my second year growing it. Big pink fruit. Nice taste. Later to ripen this year than last. It will probably come in around 90 DTM. I got a plant from a friend and saved a few seed. I have no other info.

It was certainly late to set fruit. Just about the slowest in the backyard. However, it looks pretty loaded right now and is growing well. Looking forward to it! |

Oh, here comes the leaf shape policeman (me!). I so wish that we wouldn't use "PL Version" - a variety is a variety and is determined by its leaf shape. Granny Cantrell is a RL variety. If a PL shows up, it is likely from a mix up or cross and should be called something completely different - once it is grown out enough to ensure stability.
end of the public service spot - back to your regularly scheduled discussion!

Good point Craig and I didn't realize that. I am always looking for PL varieties because they do better disease wise for me because I don't use chems. I thought it was like a KB/KBX deal and both Granny's were stable. But I guess both grannies are off their rocker! LOL! Got another name to use? I'm easy....
