What is the coffee filter method?
Is it putting seed between two wet filters, or something different?

Normally it's the sprouting of seeds for growing or checking germination rates. Ami

The main advantage of using coffee filters instead of wet paper towels is that the little sprout does not stick to the paper.....unless it managed to sprout itself through the seam on a V-shaped filter.

I don't know about the "method", but when I save seeds rather than spread them out on a paper plate to dry after the seeds are fermented and cleaned, I use a coffee filter to dry the seeds out. I can't find a non-coated paper plate. The seeds stick to the plate coating and not to the coffee filters.

I do the same as Paul has mentioned as far as saving seeds. Use a Sharpee on the coffee filter with the name of the tomato and put the fermented seeds on the filter. In a week or so just wrap it all up and stick it in a ziploc bag.

Before I used the filters for checking germination rates. But two weeks ago I fermented some seeds and after washing them I said what the heck and put them inside a coffee filter to dry. 4 days later I took the filter down from the cabinet and not 1 seed stuck to the filter paper. May not be practical for drying a large amount of seeds but for small amounts it works like a charm.

I too am using Coffee Filters, with Morgan's Oxiclean seed saving method, instead of paper plates. Also, for sprouting things like Celery seeds, the filters work far better than paper towels.
