Default First ripe fruit

Almost all of the maters I grew this year are new to me, and thanks to the early spring I am now getting some ripened fruit. Two Amazon Chocolates and one Azoytchka are some of the first to ripen. The Azoytchka has been very productive and very tasty. I was surprised that it was less fruity than I expected coming from a yellow tom. It was more of a nice balance. Amazons have yet to be tasted by me ( I think my wife ate one while I was at work).

Nice! Ripe tomatoes in mid May, that's great.

Excellent for you! Send some good karma in my direction, my little plants are just now blossoming in Indiana. Enjoy the AC's, they should be wonderful!

Thanks! I will be sure to post some more pictures of some (new to me) varieties has they turn. We have been blessed so far with no excessive pests problems and just the right amount of rain, that I find myself knocking on wood as I say it. I do expect some problems though when the temps get into the nineties and 100% humidity on a regular basis. Will be waiting to see your reports as the season progresses.

Im so jealous.........
I planted 6 early girls on March 1st as I do every year so I will have maters to eat before May 1st.........
Here it is May 19th and I still have not had a ripe mater.........
Im thinking its due to the cool nites we are still having with temps still in the
high 50's/low 60's at nite........

Keep us tuned in!

Something's not the right color- KBX and Lucky Cross are both in the orange/yellow family. What's the variety on the far right?

Kath, it is suppose to be Lucky Cross, but I have read where some people get more red than yellow. I guess I'll find out when I cut into it. The kbx is yellow/orange, just not as big as I would hoped. The Amazon Chocolate you gave me was very tasty, and the West Virginia Straw mystery should be ripening soon.

Didn't know Lucky Cross wasn't stable. Glad you liked the Amazon Chocolate. Didn't know you decided to hold on to the mystery RL plants- odds are it'll be a pink beefsteak.

Very nice variety and good looking tomatoes! I hope you can give a tasting report as well as production report on a few of them as several you are growing are not your ordinary maters. Amazon Chocolate is on my to acquire and try list for sure. I've been enjoying tons of black cherry and sun golds, black and brown boar, eva purple ball (best taste for a first fruit of a plant this season, we'll see as the season wears on) and about to enjoy the first Indian Stipe. Love this time of the year! Good luck.
