Kosovo?
Just how big does a Kosovo get. I have numerous green Kosovos that are over 2 pounds(estimated) and havent started to blush yet. Is the flavor good? I have 3plants and all are loaded with large tomatoes and still putting on more fruit. I definitely will grow again if flavor is even a 5 or 6 out of ten. We had 1 1/2 inch rain last night, sure hope they don't burst.

Ron,
Your plants look so awesome and are loaded with fruit! This is a very tasty tomato that I love, mine did not get over 1 lb, but I grew them in what we consider 'bad' years here in PNW (2005 and 2008), so I am sure they could have gotten larger in good weather.

Kosovo for my garden has not averaged more than 12 ounces with a few fruits getting to 20-30 ounces. Production has been very good and flavor excellent no matter the year. For me it has been a very nice medium sized good performer.

Those who list it in the 2012 SSE Yearbook, for members only. give ranges from 12 oz to 18 oz, but when I go back to some earlier Yearbooks I do see a few folks who did get some larger. It all depends on the specific season, the amendments used, and all the other variables that play into fruit maturation and aside from the genes of the variety,
http://t.tatianastomatobase.com:88/wiki/Kosovo As you can see I was the first to list it in the SSE YEarbook and my seeds were directly from Glenn Parker in NZ, and usually got fruits in the 1 to 1.5 lb range from his original seeds and from my saved seeds from those plants.

My largest never got much over a pound but the plants were major producers and the flavor is better to me than most of the hearts I have tried. It is not my favorite heart for flavor but is near the top and it is the top in production of all the hearts I have tried.

They look pretty. My largest Kosovo have been about 1 lb, but as other have said, I'm not surprised seeing a few larger ones in there. I find the flavor on the mild and fruity side. Which is good, but some may prefer more "tang" or gel flavor.
I canned 5-6 quarts of marinara sauce last year using only Kosovo. It made for a wonderful sauce. The fruitiness came through and the sauce was dense and rich. One of my all around favorites. |

Wow, another to add to my must grow list. I'm going to have to start squatting on the neighbor's yard.

I just checked to see what my seed source was and the seeds came from B54red (thanks again Bill) in October of 2010. It kinda makes me wonder what other treasures I might be sitting on and haven't grown yet. If the flavor is even close to what others have experienced, it will have to be grown every year by me.Many other varieties are equally loaded down with fruit but for size alone these are incredible. I really cant wait to taste them. My dad(88years old) wants to make fried green tomatoes out of them. I told him to pick all he needs from anything else but let these ripen on the vine. But on the other hand ,he is 88 so we will see.
thanks for all the views and comments ron |

You will love the flavour of this heart- sweet!
I found it produced quite a few fruits on the first truss and then the production went down the successive trusses. Jeff |

Nice looking hearts you got there!
Kosovo is a favorite of mine. Its a standard in my garden every year. The largest I've got from it was 14 oz. Your mileage will vary from garden to garden. Its always has been very productive for me. I'm growing Ukrainian heart this year as well to compare the flavor/taste of the two hearts. Its been 3 years since I've grown Ukrainian Heart. Damon |

i often got kosovo that were 1.5 and no doubts some were 2 pounds, they get quite large. typically mine are 12-16 oz size. taste is fantastic, kosovo is in my favorites list of 11 or 12 tomatoes and that is a very difficult list to get on.

I grew Kosovo one year. I too was impressed by it's heavy production large heart-shaped fruits. I wasn't impressed by the flavor though. If I recall correctly, it was mildly-sweet, but not much else. Too one-dimensional for me. I think the weather conditions weren't good, the year I grew it, for prime tomato flavor.
I've read a lot of favorable review of Kosovo, and may have to give it another try sometime. |

Feldon, was that on the vine, or on the counter? I doubt that I'll get it to ripen at all this year unless we have a month long heat wave in August.
