Csikos Botermo - heavy setting small cluster tomato

Blush from Fred Hemple

Maglia Rosa, also from Fred.

Yazon - supposed to be a small yellow/white variety but with the drought and intense sun it's definately yellow for me.

The first of the larger varieties to ripen more than a single token real slicer sized fruit is Magyar Piros Boker, a Hungarian determinate variety. I'll weigh some of these tonight to report on the actual size, they are pretty uniform, crack free and prolific, so I'm hoping they are tasty!

I am absolutely going to do cold treatment of my plants every year from now on. Almost every variety has set a decent amount of fruit lower than I have ever seen on my plants before.

Nice! I'd be curious to see what your ripe Csikos Botermos look like close up. I grew this one last year and the shape was about right, but mine ended up being red with metallic green stripes. Not at all like the pictures! Your green ones look like mine did. Where did you get your seeds? Mine were from Baker Creek.

The stripes on mine are orange and they look like the pictures on Reinhard Kraft's site. I'll take a close up tomato picture and post it soon, I ate the smaller one in the picture in a tomato salad for lunch today.

Thanks! I have a completely different growing season than the past few years, figures that I would have eliminated almost all late varieties from this years grow list. Maybe this year I could have finally got somewhere with the Brandywines...

Beautiful pictures, beautiful fruits, Mark! I'm growing Blush, too, but none of them have yet.

It looks like some of the bigger fruited varieties from that group are going to ripen ahead of it.

Great photos Mark! The tomatoes look so juicy and appetizing!

I am so anxious to taste the varieties I'm growing this year. All new to me so it will be fun and interesting. I did cold treatment on my seedlings, but many still stubbornly refused to set fruit lower, including the Brandywine Croatia. Dang plant waited so long, but finally has some decent clusters. It will be a long time before they ripen.

Mark those are some really GREAT looking varieties of tomatoes, gosh I sure wish I had the acres to grow lots of tomatoes.

those 2 from fred, blush and the other, have odd shapes. i never saw a tomato shaped like blush. nice pictures.

Babice, I planted most of them as 7 and 8 week old transplants the second week of May, about three weeks ahead of normal for my area. I was set up to have them all under cover, but with our warm spring I never had to.

Meadowyck, I think I finally have enough making it into the house to start taking some notes. Most of the early ones got tossed with some 18 year old balsalmic vinegar and EVOO for a salad within minutes of coming in and they all taste amazing when you've been suffering with supermarket styrofoam balls for so long.

Lakelady, I know what you mean about the stubborn ones. I have several varieties that are just shy to set fruit. One that I'm on my third year trying is Brad's Black Heart, last year I got one tomato. This year I have a couple set but I have other heart varieties planted a few feet away that already have 20+ fruit set. Since this year it looks like I'll have a longer than normal season so I'm hoping it gets better, otherwise it's not going to make a return in 2013.

Tom, another one like that is Trenton's Tiger from Brad Gates, but I don't think there are any ripe on that one yet. I had someone request unusual salad tomatoes this year so I grew 18 small colorful, unusual shaped varieties. They are different!

I didn't grow Csikos this year, but here is a photo of mine with metallic stripes from last year. Strange, huh? Yours looks like its supposed to! How does it taste?
