Pics...Potassium Deficiency or fertilizer burn?
Do the pictures look like fertilizer burn?
These tomatoes are growing in containers similar to Raybo's instructions. The soil is 60% peat moss, 40% perlite. I added time release fertilizer pellets 3 months ago. I fertigate weakly weekly at about 200 TDS (total dissolved solids) with Dyna-gro Foliage pro and Pro-Tekt. Or maybe the heavy rain last month washed out most of the fertilizer and these plants are Potassium starved. Any suggestions? |

Dyna-Gro Pro-Tekt is a 0-0-3 Potassium (K2O)/Silicon (SiO2) supplemental fertilizer.
That's a Self Watering Container, where are the nutrients going to leach too? "The soil is 60% peat moss, 40% perlite", that's it? No Dolomite or Bark Fines? just askin, I'm have no expertise with SWC's, |

Looks like fertilizer burn to me. But also looks very similar to wind or sun burn!

Yes, some Dolomite, but 6 months ago.
Yes, some Bark Fines, but not much because the smallest I can get is about .5 inch. Mostly German peat moss and perlite. Quote:

I though it might be Sun burn too, but I couldn't find any tomato leaf pictures with similar discoloration.
And the same plant (Earl's Faux) in the next container doesn't have the problem. Last edited by parah; July 18, 2012 at 10:51 PM. |

Yes, the soil mix was very waterlogged for weeks. The monsoon rains were heavy enough to overflow the drain holes. The soil was "rain washed" for 2 weeks. So how could it be over fertilized?
But if it is under fertilized why is there enough nitrogen. Is this some kind of blight? It doesn't match any tomato disease photos I studied. The closest match I can find is Potassium Deficiency. http://www.haifa-group.com/knowledge...ency_symptoms/ But gave them extra Pro-Tekt (potassium suppliment) 10 days ago and have not noticed any improvement. I am very puzzled. Quote:
