Persimmon is another good one.

ate my first one today for lunch and immediately decided i was having another for dinner.

tonight during dinner i decided i will be having one tomorrow for breakfast.

i am new to heirlooms and i'm really starting to see the differences in all the varieties. it used to be the rutgers, ramapo, big girl, early girl....all the old nursery varieties. my dad would run to the store and grab a few plants and that was it. i took over the garden 2 years ago and now i'm starting from seed and i see the light .

kelloggs breakfast has passed cher purple on my fav list. i havent even begun to scratch the surface in the heirloom world

unfortunately my kellogs are not doing well for me ths yr but they have been a real favorite of mine i the past... you might also like pineapple for a big bicolor hierloom

That is such a beautiful color! I had always imagined light colored tomatoes were very mild as I had tried a few from a farmers market....then I tasted the Tipsy line from the dwarf project, love it. I might have to add Kelloggs Breakfast to my list for 2013!

this tomato is superb. i would not call it mild but its a little lighter than some strong red/pink/purple tomatoes. however the taste is very complex and just dances on the palette.

You just have to grow Kelloggs Breakfast next year.
I would try persimmon too.

did tomato and fresh moz salad with brandywine from croatia, kelloggs breakfast and brandywine X neves azorean red F4.

for me the brandywineXnar was a winner with kelloggs breakfast a very close second and brandywine from croatia off in the distance. everyone else at the table chose the kelloggs breakfast as the top tomato. this was the first kelloggs breakfast i allowed the table to share and didnt hog on my own by lunch
