Hanging Out With The Big Hoys
I grew 17 Hoy plants this year. It seems there's no such thing as a Hoy under 1lb.
Anyway, here's a photo and my harvest video for a 2 lb 8.21 oz tomato. Last edited by SleestaksRule; October 1, 2012 at 03:41 PM. |

Awesome maybe I will grow it again next year. I had one plant it was put in a totaly brand new section of garden that was made in early spring. I extended my garden a few feet when putting up a border. I have only had a few toamtoes off of it they were very late and small. The extreme heat and drought didn't help either.
Those you have look great, really great the cutaways are awesome, nice job for sure. That one you weighed was a megabloom is it actually one continous tomato? One more thing did you trim that plant up much? Again very nice looking fruit. Dono |

This one is the only one I grew in a grow bag and it was a 5 gallon bag which I think stalled the plant at about 5 feet tall. I didn't break down the bag yet to check out the roots. I gave the plant very little attention. I gave it Milorganite in layers in the bag during the transplant and then gave it Fish emulsion every 2 weeks. This one wasn't a megabloom. It just had an odd crease in it. I did very little trimming. I concentrated on my in-ground gardens as this was my first time trying out grow bags. It probably need a 10 gallon bag.

Hoy produced a lot of big tomatoes for me. Non of them were thinned out, they grew the way they wanted to grow. I did not weight any of the tomatoes, just ate them up and tasty too. If I thinned them out to just a few tomatoes then I think there could have been some whoppers.
