Accidental cross pollination

I had some involuntary cross pollination go on last year. I saved my seeds from my tomatoes last year. and used them this year. Last year I had Big cherry plants, produced 1oz, 3/4" in diameter tomatoes. well some of the plants grow just like the cherries put produce tomatoes that are 2" in diameter. See the difference?

I have two plants that are suppose to be Kentucky Yellow Beefsteak And I get these. When ripened fully they turn a very deep red color. They taste excellent! they are very meaty inside and are low in acid. I had one this size for my supper last night on my burger. YUM! Should have took a picture of that one. I am guessing the yellow pollinated with celebrity because they were planted closest together last year and the plants

And its just not the tomatoes, I saved the seeds from come California Wonder Bell Peppers and I got this,

I think they cross bread with jalapenos. I did not save any seeds from the jalapenos last year that I can remember. But yet I have them growing. There is some heat to them but they don't tastes like a jalapeno. Time will tell with these....Very weird.

Yup, peppers will cross more readily than tomatoes. I never used to save pepper seed, but then I figured why not? As long as I get some sweet and some hot, I don't really care what they look like, since I save for my own use only. This year I ended up with one medium sized hot bell in with my normal jalapenos. It was rather fun to find (and eat) but I'm not planning on saving any seed from that one since I know it won't come true. I have three or four hybrid sweet peppers that I buy seeds for every few years so I'm assured of getting at least a few that I plan for.

I guess this is the f1 then? so see if it holds true int eh F2 generation! Might be complicated if Celebrity is the baby daddy

Yup, diffidently saving seeds. I gotta see what happens next year. If i get nice tomatoes like this again....Its a keeper!

I save my pepper seed for personal use, as well. I planted some saved Golden Treasure seed this year, and they are producing beautiful ORANGE peppers roughly seven to eight inches long...stunning peppers. Did it cross with my Red Marconis? (Red+Yellow = Orange; right?) I will save this seed from these to see what I get next year...
