Steve, I don't know Ira personally, but Craig ( nctomatoman) does since SESE has a strong presence at the Monticello event and Craig has given talks there before.
What wasn't said in the blog is that Ira developed a brain tumor a few years ago, I think it was malignant, although I'm not sure of that, and had to cancel many events to which she had been invited, SSE was one of them. A remarkable woman, no doubt about it. Carolyn, who was to be visited here at home by one of the folks from SESE this past Fall, he was going to tour several places here in the NE , places with seed sites online, but there was a fire at SESE, no loss of life, but he had to stay there, so maybe this coming year it will work out.

Ira is a character and a dedicated seed swapping horse trader. I met her at Bill Best's place 3 years ago. I swapped her several varieties of tomato to trial for some fresh Amish Paste seed.

Her book is great for southern gardeners. I have two shelves full of garden books and was not going to buy another one but decided to since I have so much admiration for Ira and all that she does. I love it so much that I have recommended ti to all my gardening friends.

Yes, ken, I still haven't gotten to your more recent e-mail about a visit this summer, sorry, I've just been swamped and am way behind on e-mails, but I'll get back to you soon, never fear. Carolyn
