One cool gal.
I found this gal looking at me today.
So I thought I would share her with you. IMG_2014103010825.jpg IMG_2014103031138.jpg IMG_2014103057860.jpg |

Is that a spider? I've never seen anything like it. Is it a variegated tarantula (if there is such a thing)?
I was driving on a quiet street in TX one day when I saw my first tarantula. I stopped the car and got out for a closer look. Those things are massive! Linda |

If you look at the third photo breakfast (an ant) is walking by. In the photo of smokey you will see a mosquito on her left ear. At least it looks like one. I cant remember the last time I used any pesticides here that will kill spiders or good insects. Just ant bait for the fire ants. Worth |

Here is one that chases it's prey, it is about 1/2 the size of a dime.
I used to have one of these as a pet growing up. It would crawl down the wall at dinner time and I would give it little morsels of meat. The thing would come right up to my plate. The second one is an orb weaver about the size of a quarter spread out hanging out trying it's best to look like a leaf. Tonight it will build a new web. The last one will give you a heart attack when you run into its web at night and it ends up on your face. I had pet lizards spiders frogs toads, snakes and an armadillo that would meet me when I came home from school growing up. Great photos, Worth. Most of us don't take the time to really look at spiders. And there are so many different kinds. I've never seen ones like these.

Ok so you don't like spiders, how about tree frogs.
This one hangs out in the Yucca plant. IMG_2014110326629.jpg Bonus cat. IMG_2014110335495.jpg |

LOVE tree frogs! I've just been waiting for an opening to post this -
I think she looks like a little princess in her fluffy bed. For some reason she reminds me of the Princess and the Pea story.
