Ripening Habanero
Hey everybody. Just a quick question here - How long does it take Habanero, Fatalii and Scotch Bonnet fruits to ripen? I have an abudance of them but it's taking forever for them to turn their colors. Maybe I'm just being impatient....

They should be starting to ripen for you now. I've got a few ripe Fatali and Habanero on my plants now. Be patient, in September you'll be loaded with them.

The more peppers on the plant the long it takes to ripen. Just be patient. They will ripen soon enough.

Habaneros are about 100 days to harvest, Fataliis are about 75 days. Scotch Bonnets could be anywhere from 70 to 100 days depending on the variety.

I agree with the others. The super hots can take a while, but when they do you will be inundated with peppers. Seemingly all at once.
Loveeeeee me some fatalis. |

I just picked my first 3 ripe habaneros today. The seeds were started February 6, next year they might be started January first. Or maybe overwinter a plnt or two. A picture for Hunt-Grow-Cook. Oops it needs to be resized I will try.

I have one Habanero plant and one Red Scotch Bonnet plant. Both have been loaded with green peppers for some time now, and just this week I have a few on each starting starting to show some color.

Thanks for the replies everyone! It's funny because 2 days ago a few of my Fatalii's started to turn yellow haha. I was so relieved/excited to see that.
@4season - Those look incredible! Awesome work

Those fatali peppers are from my friends garden 2 years ago. He puts about 1/2 cup garden tone in and around each oversize hole he digs when they get set out. He has 7 pot, scorpion, habanero, and other hot stuff that I cant eat.

My Habs have started to turn orange! They look amazing - that neon orange contrasting with the green leaves and stems!

Glad to hear it! I thought I would get to see that same orange color, but I ended up with Peach Habaneros. Still beautiful, though!

The super hots tend to ripen in batches. Here is the third batch (almost 60 pods) from a single three year old Yellow Scorpion plant. I estimate about 30 days between batches.

I believe those are Yellow Fatali, not habaneros. Sorry if I am being presumptuous.
Sorry I see you corrected it in a later post: Those fatali peppers are from my friends garden 2 years ago. He puts about 1/2 cup garden tone in and around each oversize hole he digs when they get set out. He has 7 pot, scorpion, habanero, and other hot stuff that I cant eat. |
