Is this White Habanero?

I got some seeds from a generous person on TV, and here is what is labelled White Hab. These peppers are yellow. Any thoughts on what this is?

I have seen them look a pale ivory, but never that yellow. Did they start white and ripen to that? The shape looks to be right to me, I have grown the White Hab from bakers creek that look very similar in shape and growth habit just lighter in color.

I don't think they started white. I seem to have some kind of Yellow Hab.

If they are saved seeds and weren't bagged they could very very easily be a cross.

I grew these this year and they looked just like that when ripe, They were white before they turned yellow.

They are often refered to as White Bullet Habs because of the shape. Still the same family I believe and plenty hot. There is also White habs with the "typical hab" lantern shape. Baker creek sells the bullet version.

Yeah, those are probably an accidental cross of white bullet hab w/ some other yellow pepper. I've heard of this happening before...

What White Bullet Habs are supposed to look like:

If you enjoy the peppers why don't you overwinter it or at least keep the seeds to see what comes next year? It looks pretty cool (no pun intended) to me.

OK, I will. I rather wanted white, but the yellows are kinda pretty.

The yellow makes them look sort of like candy. Very HOT candy.

Why destroy the plant? If you grow out the seeds, you can isolate your very own variety.

hehe. It really is a different philosophy of seed-saving, that is for certain.

The difference between "white" and "yellow" is down to one gene. If your plant is a cross, then 25% of the next generation would be white and 75% will be yellow (more or less). Those white ones wouldn't be "white habanero" per se, but they will no doubt be tasty.
