Pepper Plant Problems
As you can see from my pictures, I'm having some problems with my belle pepper plants! These plants were started from Burpee Kaleidoscope blend seed packets, and thrived pretty well in pots outdoors all summer. I brought them to school with me, and first learned that I was over watering. I cut way back on watering, watering only as the plants needed it. On my next repots, I will be putting a better draining soil to ease on the water issue. My room temp is usually 67-75ish, they get plenty of light supplied by dedicated lamps, with only CFL bulbs in them but they are on about 16 hours per day on average. I am using a vegetable fertilizer by miracle gro (specifically their "Tomato Plant Food") which is an 18% nitrogen fertilizer. I read online that I need a high calcium blend to assist the plant in properly fruiting. The plants are still trying to make new fruit, but the buds typically fall off before they become established. What else do I need to do to help these plants be their best indoors and still get plenty of delicious belle peppers? thanks for the comments! |
