Empire Tomato
A neighbour mentioned Empire to me today as a tomato that did well for her. Anyone familiar with it?

Yeah, I grew it last year. Great flavor. Hybrid. And, while I haven't looked lately, seed were hard to find a couple months ago. I posted in the Wanted forum and got no replies. I did find it to be determinate in growth habit for me. It loaded up about a dozen or so fruit and then just quit.

Thanks Ted
Looks like not many have tried Empire. What size fruit did it make? I am looking for something to slice fresh that will also make a good canner. |

As I recall, the fruit were in the 6-8 oz range. Definitely smaller than the fruit from Better Boy which grew just beside Empire. The determinate growing trait would make it a turn-off for me. I was not happy with its total production. I looked for seed for it because my brother wanted some for his patio containers.
