Default First blooms

Some of you might be swimming in tomatoes now but here in Chicago area tomatoes are just starting to bloom.
Drum roll.... first winners out of about 50 plus varieties planted somewhere in late April/ early May
Pappy Kerns/ t'ville seeds/
and Yablochniy Lipetskiy from Tania.
I love hearts and Pappy Kerns is promising to be early new one. Yablochnyi Lipetskiy has long story of of Russian woman Galina preserving seeds from years ago. She passed away now but shared seeds with friends. Somehow they made their way to Tania and now to my garden. Per description "Apple-like from Lipetsk" has most tomatoey taste you can find...

Good news, Lindalana.
No tomatoes to swim in here either. But almost all of my plants have buds and/or flowers.
Some started flowering about two weeks ago. But no fruits are visible/detectable yet.
With the weather improving, I should see them moving faster. I have been busy as bees with my electric tooth brush , trying to pollinate.

First greenie is formed! Tiny but it is a tomato!
Good amount of blooms but also high humidity and lots of rain.
Good report on Saraev Stoikiy. Planted early, did not have real frosts but temps went down quite a bit. Unprotected. Short and sturdy. It has not bloomed yet though, getting ready.
Out of my comparable 3 container plants Aurora is a clear winner- blooming its head off. Tania lists it as perfect market tomato. Kobzar just setting blooms and Solnechnuye Gryozy- Sunny Dreams have very short very stout beautiful appearance, about to open flowers.

Yay Lindalana! Hope it shapes up to be a great season for you, and thanks for keeping us posted on the earliest!
I can hardly believe it but I have my first greenie three days ago on Hope's Early F3. I didn't even plant my seeds until March 31, and the first were up on April 3 and 4 but a lot are flowering already so less than 60 days. In the OP's I have flowers on Mazarini, Desyatku, Owen's Purple and Oaxaca Jewel PL that was planted late on March 14th and is already flowering. The rest of early flowers are on my crosses - Rodney, Skipper, Kitten Paws Pink, Beist, and the F1 of Rodney X Altajskiy Urozajnij is flowering before either parent.
I'm very excited to see Owen's Purple get an early start as there wasn't much info about earliness, also Mazarini I expected to be later.
Meanwhile I am not even half way transplanted, before the weather turned cold and made me stop. Not quite 60 Fin the greenhouse yesterday, 46 F this morning, and only up to 56 F at 3 oclock today. Low to the freezing mark is forecast for tonight outdoors. We are really late to get spring this year, the leaves are not fully out on the trees.

]Happy to say Oaxacan Jewel has some greenies too! Am still upplanting some tomatoes into pots so my flower covering is a bit behind. Gotta get serious on seed saving. Weather has been hot and humid. Pictured Pappy Kerns.
