Default 2 Tomato Questions

The first picture is a CP. It got too heavy for the branch. Will it ripen inside sitting on our bar, or should I set it in the sun somewhere? (Yeah sun...right) It's about to rain for the next three days.

The second and third pictures are of what is supposed to be an Indigo Apple, but it's over 4" wide and has no indigo coloring at all. Do you think it could be an Indigo Apple? The plant is PL. It's a nice looking tomato one way or other.

That first one (CP) will ripen on the counter just fine. No direct sun . Kitchen light or indirect light .

You are right on the other two. They are no definitely Indigo Apple. IA is very similar in size and color to Indigo Rose. They are Cherry size.
I grew IR last year an am growing both IR and IA.

Thank you Gardeneer. I saw one site saying IA could get up to 6 oz. but I think it was just a misprint. It's a variation of IR.

I would go pick some but I don't feel like getting wet.

َ َRobert, another distinction about indigo plants is that they have a hint of purplish foliage, the same shade of color that is seen on the fruits. Plus, IR is called semi-determinant.

I agree. I have grown many of the Indigo plants over the years and they almost always have purple tinting to them as soon as the fruit appears; here is a picture of my Indigo Blue Beauty (the fruit is about the size of a cherry tomato):

One other note, I sell my tomatoes and grow all of mine organically. That means that the critters are going to get their fair share, but they usually wait until they are about ripe on the vine to do their damage. I usually pick my as soon as they get a little color on them and put them in my garage with very little lighting. They always ripen up nicely and it does not affect the flavor.

My Indigo Apple fruits were much larger than a typical cherry, but not more than about 3 or 4 oz. Here's a picture from Wild Boar Farms.
