I have a Bonnie "Creole" with 10 3-4 oz greens sitting

I have a Bonnie "Patio" with 4 3-4 sitting - the main stalk got savaged by a storm

anyway - the Patio just put on a new marble-sized with the 4 growing on the syrvivor stem

the Creole is still putting on girth to some of the greenies

the largest of them on either plant are 4-5oz tops

when will they turn red! jonesing for a decent tomato!?!?!

Tell me about it! Still waiting for my tomato plant order. Ten plants to be exact. My honey hybrid sweet corn is at least making an appearance. Whether it will pollinate properly is my concern. Make note for next spring: better system to space seeds. Was a bit half hazard. Some closer then others. It bugs me that I got so sloppy. I was too concerned about getting lawn tilled first time. Should be easier next year. Overall I just need to organize my garden better. If I get a bounty of veggies I'll be thrilled. But there is something about a neat garden.

That is great! My plants just started setting fruit. Before the last couple of days all of my blossoms were just falling off - it's been very cold and foggy here. You are close to your first tomato.

I sowed seeds almost 100 days ago and still there in no fruits. PNW, you know

It is slightly better than gardening in the walk in cooler.

Cooler or what/not, I will get ripe tomatoes in another month or so.

I don't know which is worse. Waiting for them to grow up and get their first blooms or the waiting for the tomatoes to turn. I feel like I have been starring at tons of green cherry tomatoes forever. The plants are loaded, but just can't seem to get them to start blushing and it hot here.

I know that when I get that first ripe tomato I am going to sit and savor it even if it only the size of a quarter.

The past 2 years I have grown hybrids, mostly Celebrity and have gotten ripe tomatoes by July 4th. This year I decided to try my hand at heirlooms and I think they are going to be a little later ripening. Some varieties are doing well in growth and setting fruit. Others seem healthy but slower growing, flowering and fruiting. Which is fine to spread the harvest out a little. It is another drizzly rainy day but after today it looks like abundant sunshine and temps nearing 90 for the next week. That has gotta help things along. Before long we will go from tomato famine to tomato feast.

Re Patio:

Nice. I grew that last year, in fabric bags. They were early.

I was checking out my babies earlier this week, a cold brewski in hand. I saw my first fruits, on a Bloody Butcher and (drum roll) on a Black Krim. BK produced my first RED fruits the last 2 years in a row, on plants that had blooms when transplanted (which I kept of course, to good effect.) The BB will beat the BK this year (probably) but getting 8-10 oz premium blacks in late july/early august is lots of fun where I live.

Neither - sutting on my counter waiting for these two below to ripen - then fresh basil, good mozzarella, olive oil - caprese salad. THE taste of summer!
