Solar Flare Tomato

I planted store bought seeds for Solar Flare, but it doesn't look like the pictures I've seen online (One example) http://www.rareseeds.com/solar-flare-tomato/

Instead, it looks like this. I'm guessing it is ready by look and feel. The pics are a little blurry because it's sprinkling.

Looks more like Pork Chop, another Wild Boar Farms tomato. Maybe a seed mix up? Solar flare is definitely red with yellow/orange striping. Also just found this...

Pork Chop is what I thought also.

I went out and picked it. I couldn't see the bottom of it while it was on the plant. It is not the nicest looking tomato.

I picked that tomato a little over an hour ago. I just moved it and that has to be the softest none rotten tomato I ever picked up. It started turning yellow 3 days ago. I cut it...It is beyond acidic - it makes your mouth pucker.

Doesn't sound like anything I would want.
And yet another reason I dont like most bi-colors.
Every one of them except striped roman taste like crap or no taste at all.

Yep, you have Porkchop there!!

As "Hunt" found the old Thread from 2012, Solar Flare is definitely red with a touch of orange. As I said in my post in that Thread, biting into it is like "getting hit upside the head with a 2x4".





I grew it once and never after that. In fact, I have a packet of 14 seeds purchased from WBF I'll be happy to send you to grow the Real Deal:

Thank you Raybo. The only reason I grew the plant was to use up the seeds I had left. I wish I had planted something else there because that area turns out to be less RKN affected - or at least the plants are growing there.

I guess these are Pork Chop related or got crossed with them. They came from a "Dragon's Eye" seed package. One plant had red fruits, the other one the same characteristic but yellow.

I guess I should be hoping my Solar Flares are red striped! It will be some time before I know.

It might be Pineapple Pig from Wild Boar also.

This one is not Solar Flare. However, it is from the Pink Siberian Tiger plant growing next to it. The Siberian Tiger tastes real good.

The uncut tomato is Gargamel. It starts out dark and ripens red/green/blue/purple/etc.. We're going to try it with dinner tonight. I hope it tastes good because the plant is loaded with them.
