Platycodon - blue stars in my garden.
I started these from seed some 6-8 years ago and they have thrived and expanded from the roots. They survive -30 below zero in the winter, and hot, dry, poor soil in the summer. I finally got around to plumping up the soil in my flower bed with some manure this spring, and they really rewarded me
with exceptional size. I started snapdragons from seed indoors this spring, they are such a pain to transplant because the seedlings are so tiny and I always sow too many. But the end result is well worth the bother, I tell myself. There's just something weirdly whimsical about snaps. |

Great pics! I just love my balloon flower too! The lily looks great with them.
I love the snapdragons also. They were the first flower I ever grew from seed when I was little. Remy

Beautiful pictures. I just tore my Platycodon out because they were in a weed-infested bed which was "decommissioned." I should start some more.

Sherry, I think you have the prettiest garden I have ever seen. It must be like living in paradise.

tomatoaddict -- Thanks so very much! Even though we can only enjoy it for a short season, we get much pleasure from it.
(And I do hope you were actually speaking to me ... or is ddsack's real name 'Sherry'? I will be horribly embarrassed if that's the case!!!) |
