Default Cherokee Purple & Black Krim Question

Both have a heavy set but seem to be 'resting' with not many flowers and no new fruit. The first fruits are at the bottom with about 4-5 feet of foliage above. In years past they just kept setting. A long time ago I believe Feldon discussed setting at about 3 week intervals? Piegirl

Tomatoes (and other plants) go through a vegative state and a reproductive state. The vegative state is when the plant grows foliage and the reproductive state is when the plant flowers and (hopefully) sets fruit. The time interval for tomatoes to go into the reproductive state is about every two to three weeks.

There are several possibilities for not much growth and non fruit set most of which involve the weather. For example most tomato varieties do not set fruit well if it is too hot or too cold.

Good luck.

I don't know about that but I know that I've posted here many times that the blossom cycle is about three weeks, but since that whole process is asynchronous there will be new blossoms almost all the time.

Appearance of new blossoms doesn't always equate with fruit setting unless conditions are favorable for that.

Thank you - noticed today both are setting again but we have had the muggies - 90 temp, 75% humidity and 72% dew point - we have some of the worst humidity anywhere in the states! Just sucks the breathe right out of you - so far pretty clean foliage but more upper 90's and when the weatherfolk mention 'humid' -it is serious! piegirl
