japanese climbing cukes

Boy, these are vigorous growers and I don't think I gave them enough to climb on - they are starting to climb into my tomato cages - will they choke out the toms or cause any serious problems? Perhaps they will just provide some shade. We all know what the choice would be! They are planted around a welded rebar tomato cage approx 18" x 18" by six foot tall. Piegirl

I grew them last year and although not overly active growers for me, did produce well.

The sikkim is a regarded as more of a semi dwarf, you right mcsee they are not active grower but i`m more into flavour than yield.What did you think of its flavour?

The flavour was quite good although this coming season we'll be trying both Lebanese & Marketmore Cucumbers for a change.

I'm growing the Uminami Cucumber and have it in a 32 inch Diameter and 5ft tall cage. Will soon be adding an additional 3 ft to cage height. This is supposed to be a very-very large Cucumber reaching 2-3 ft in length and 3+ inches in diameter. Will be my conversation veggie with the neighbors this year

mcsee is the sikkim seed commercially available in Aussie?i`m asking because i understand its not easy to bring seed into Australia.

Richard, you've aroused my interest in the Sikkim seeds as I cannot even find them listed here under that name. They sound interesting with their semi-dwarf habit, possibly good in a small garden like mine.
