Variety question (roma?)

I have a tomato which i think is a roma, but was wondering if it was a specific type
most of the romas i have seen are long and round with smooth circular end

This one is long with a pointed end

Warped-It sounds like a paste tomato, and there are many of them that are much larger than Roma-you might go to tomatogrowers.com and look at their paste tomato photos . Where did you get the variety?

That seems like it

we own a fruit and vegetable shop where we buy off growers (local if possible) and we have someone who brings in seedlings for us to sell and he had ox heart and roma's and i took a couple home and my roma one is really thriving

it looks like a howard german but not certain (if i had a camera id take a pic

)

Ah yea Uralla wouldnt mean much to most

I live in Australia, in a cold climate town named Uralla we have short summers(not very hot) and pretty cold Winters

Hi Warped.
Amish Paste is a paste with a pointy end.
San Mazano Redorta is another paste with a pointy end, but that is an indeterminate (tall) plant.

They're the only two pointy pastes I know and grow/have grown.

the point itself does not seem to be useful since shape rarely has any relation to taste. Since all of these are paste tomatoes looks don't matter when encouraging fresh eating. Since the tomato ugly or such looks bad and tastes good. The only time you really need to worry about tomato shape and color is in a fair vegetable display or salad to impress the neighbors or in-laws.
