Default 2006 Grow List

I posted a version of this elsewhere, now it's time to give the updated version here.

As I've said, I always grew the MS standards, such as Better Boy and Big Boy. Some Rutgers, some Marion. Now, I'm interested in the more exotic heirlooms as well.

I have 9 raised beds, 4 X 12 X 10 inches deep. Three rows of three, laying east-west. Here's the list for now...

Bed 1. Three Better Boy, Three Big Boy
Bed 2. Three Brandywine, Three Brandy Boy
Bed 3. Six Sudduth Brandywine
Bed 4. Three Rutgers, Three Mexico
Bed 5. Three Marianna'a Peace, Three Stump of the World
Bed 6. Three Cherokee Purple, Three Carbon
Bed 7. Three German Giant, Three to be determined later
Bed 8. Peppers and Eggplant
Bed 9. Ambrosia cantaloupe

I have 11 more beds at the farm and will grow corn, orka, etc. there.

Is three enough for most of these? Almost all of these will be new to me. My first real plunge into the world of heirlooms.

Craig....did you say that peppers and eggplants do better in containers? Let me know. I have a ton of old nursery containers and whiskey barrels at the farm. If they grow better in containers, why do you think this is?

Do any of you think any of these varieties are ill-suited for Zone 7B in north Mississippi? If so, I can always change the list. Ordering seeds this week, though.

Post away!

Don
