no problem here snatching a hornworm off my mater plants! now those awful frass-producing pickle worms in the cukes & those squash borers that get inside the squash vines & are gooey wet & acting like they'll pinch you when you try to extract them... blech!
Too bad the hornworms do such damage to mater plants - they make a dramatic moth. http://whaticaught.com/nature-outdoo...nworm-moth.htm |

I keep an eye out for these pests, if I have one it's usually on a container plant. In the garden I inter-plant borage plants that are supposed to deter horn worms. I have not ever had issues with them on the garden plants. The borage plant and flower are edible also the leaves taste like cucumbers. Pretty flowers too!
