Help,unripe green tomatoes cracking.
What's going on with my tomatoes,they are all cracking on the bottom.they are not even close to ripe or full size.Only cracking on the bottom.

That's where they become deformed right?It looks like you might be right.What causes it and can i stop it?

i think its usually caused by a rapid increase in rain or maybe prolonged cloudy weather (weve had both and have it starting now too)
dont know if you can do a whole lot to prevent it, maybe cover the ground directly around the plants with plastic like a Christmas tree skirt, keeping some of the water away from soaking into the ground and getting taken up by the plant. take off when conditions improve. good luck! |

The weather has been terrible here all summer,cool and rainy.So That's the cause i guess.The rest of the tomatoes that start growing now should be fine right,now that we might get some better weather.The plants are all mulched with newspaper too.
