I sow on an electric propagator on a windowsill of my desk.It has that 2 seeds of every variety. It is the first time when I sow eggplants so early. But I want to be certain to have eggplants this year.

Je n'ai jamais eu une problème avec la germination, malgré que ça marche trop lentement pour moi. Mais quand je mets les petites aubergines au potager, c'est là où mes problèmes commencent. Y a des petits coléoptères, nommés "puce", ici qui mangent les feuilles de mes plants et les tuent.

Mais que feras-tu avec tant d'aubergines si elles réussisent?

I never had a problem with germination, in spite of the fact that it goes too slowly for me. But when I put the little eggplants in my potager, that's where my problems start. There are little beetles, called "flea beetle" here, that eat the leaves of my young plants and kill them.

The excess has no problem. There are diverse manners to prepare eggplants. And then we can freeze, sterilize or look to the neighbours. Fleas(chips) are fought(disputed) with some oil of neem if they arrive. It is great efficase and ecological.

Je devrais essayer cet huile de neem. Cet été je vais employer le paillage plastique à la couleur d'argent; j'ai lu que ça peut combattre ces affreuses puces! Je l'emploie pour mes courgettes et ça marche bien.

I should try that neem oil. This summer I'm going to use plastic silver mulch; I've read that it can fight those awful flea beetles. I used it for my squash and it works well.

Actually, my husband grows them and the neighbors line up for extras. He pickeled the Japanese last year and they went like the wind. Says he will be doing twice as many this year. He uses heat mats and has no problems with germination. And welcome to the forum! There are probably MANY French recipes using Aubergine?
