Default Transplanting deep

I'm growing a few different ground cherries (not sure of species) this season. The larger varieties are quite leggy. When I plant them out, can I bury them the way I do for leggy tomato plants?

Thanks wilderness1989. In the nick of time too as I'll be potting them on over the next week or so.

I am topping this thread because I want to know this as well and when I go to the link, I am taken to a German site of some kind that makes no sense to me.

Thanks in advance for your quick answers because my tomatillos need deeper dirt now!

When I potted up my tomatillos about 2 weeks ago I planted them deep and they seem to be fine.

4 weeks later tomatillos are doing fine, I potted them up again and planted deep. I will be putting them in large containers for the season and plan on planting deep.
