Caterpillar invasion
Is It just my place or what?
We have untold thousands of these critters in all colors sizes and shapes this year. Fuzzy slick stripped black brown yellow orange and white everywhere. Ever year we have some sort of new critter one year toads another birds stickbugs grasshoppers and so on this year caterpillars. Every day the driveway is coverd in droppings if I let it go it would be an inch thick. I know some of them sting but I like to let the fuzzy ones crawl on me. As long as you dont mash them they wont hurt. Yes they eat a little but no way will I try to kill them I figure it's just their turn this year, they will be gone soon. Worth |

Can't have caterpillar krap all over that nice new driveway ;-) You need some guineas.

I forgot to mention green there are green ones too. And red and spotted with stripes. I think the reason I dont have birds in my yard this year is because they can stay in the woods and eat their fill. A humming bird stopped by and cussed me out for not having the feeders out yet. Worth |

I've had a hummingbird feeder out for a month but none have shown up yet. So far no caterpillars either except for cabbage worms.

I think those things run in cycles-last year. Last year or the year before I was sweeping them off the porch with a broom and going round and round the house, trying to get them off-yuck. This year I've only seen 2 of the striped fuzzies and just a couple of their cocoons. We live on the edge of woods and have many birds but I never saw them being eaten. Our hummers were a couple weeks later in arriving this year than usual, but are at the feeders regularly now for about a week.
