What Took My Eggplant

My first Udumalapet Eggplant went missing. Two days ago, I thought that it was almost ripe (just shy of 3"). I made the decision to let it stay on the plant two more days. Earlier today when I went to check on my plant it was gone. What creature could have taken my plant without an evidence left behind? The plant looks totally unharmed.

I don't know for sure, but those party-animals in your avatar look mighty guilty. Kinda like Duke, the dog in the Bush Beans commercials.

Thanks for the advice. All of my veggy plants are in a gated portion of my backyard (RV access). Since there is a gate on both sides that locks, that means that the dogs or neighbor would have to jump over my fence. Trust me...My doggies would definitely leave evidence. DH has left the side gate open before (about 6 months ago). Now I have a lock and I am the only one with a key.

I am starting to think that it was a bird that took my eggplant. In other words, I am really really hoping that it wasn't a rat or gopher or other creepy four legged animnal (possum--yuck).
