yes i think it was "early contender". ralph liked it and gave me some seeds. all i could think of is tastes "green" tho that doesn't describe anything but saying it tastes like grass is an apt description. i hate that taste and it has scared me away from growing any bean i can't taste first.

back then i stumbled upon black valentine, an old heirloom. it is a bush and it had wonderful tasting beans. i lost track of where i bought it, this was pre internet, today i'm sure i could find it in 10 seconds. but i refuse to grow bush beans - too short a season 2 or 3 picking and done plus too hard to pick.
