Sir Talon,
That's a 9-inch standard paper plate. I'd say the tomatoes are about the same size as an average Better Boy. What amased me is the skin color ... this photo does not capture the semi matt pinkish undertone in the red skin ... and then the distinct shape of the whatcha-macallit green star shaped thingie on the stem end ... I think that's particularly cool. It would make a very eye appealing whole fruit presentation ... like on a farm stand for sale. And yes, the interior cross section was a pleasant shock to behold. PV EDIT: Opps, cross post ... it tasted good, Barb. My wife agreed. Not intense, but very good tomatoey flavor with a sweet touch. And I'm assuming this was at "Stage One" ripe ala Jimmy Williams scale of two-stage ripening. This tomato would be great on a hamburger bun or wedged in a salad. I'm gonna guess that one there weighed between 6 and 8 ounces ... I'll put the next one on a postal scale. Thanks for the seed, Barb. |
