I wonder if nastaturiums will trap whiteflies like they do aphids? In the early spring when it's cool I plant a lot of them to trap aphids. It seemed to work pretty well last year. I had lots of aphids on the nastaturiums and almost none on the tomatoes, lettuce and other goodies.
Just be very careful if you decide to eat a nastaturium salad. I didn't realize I even had aphids last spring until I had a bunch of blossoms on a lovely salad and bit into one. Now I either feed the blossoms to the chickens or inspect them very carefully before using. Blech! |
