Wow tom, that looks wonderful. I am still waiting on a ripe one. I have had several over the years that I brought inside to ripen but this is the first year I will get some in August. My postmistress has some ripe ones now and has already requested that I just give her Cherokee Purple seedlings in the future...

This was my first year with CP...great tasting tomato...hard to describe...but yes a 9/10 for sure! Only problem was that I got few fruit...six to be exact. It was just beginng to set more flowers when all of our rain came...then the hot weather. Never got a chance to really take off. I had a couple of slices on a hamburger the other night...it was terrific.

I had not planned on keeping anything from this year's garden for next year (all were very good)...just too many other varieties to try...but I just may have to rethink this about CP.

Anything else like in flavor?

so I'm not sure which others
would compare ~
It is a great tomato though ...
This year it was in a pot ...
Next season they are getting
my "seaweed" open ground treatment ~

I ate my first one yesterday. It was the worst looking tomato. If it had been anything else, I would've pitched it. I was able to salvage half of it and boy was I glad I did. Outstanding. I know now what the fuss is about.

I had my first Cherokee Purples this past week. 1 of them I ate fresh so I can taste it and the other I cut in half, put a little salt, pepper, and olive oil on it and placed it on the grill. I took the skin off and cut it into 1 inch cubed pieces. I tossed it into a pasta dish that contained, eggplant, peppers, broccoli, garlic, chard, onions, and pesto. Everything but the garlic came from my garden .

Oh yeah, the Cherokee Purple was awesome. To bad the production isn't for me.

He might be like me and can't find decent garlic to grow. I managed to find some good looking specimens at a market in old Melbourne town the other day. It comes from China, so I don't know if we will actually eat it. Not sure how it has been feritilised if you know what I mean. But will definetely plant some cloves and see how they evolve.
Oh yeah, Cherokee Purples rock. Just need to get one to pump out more toms before it shuts down.

My Cherokee Purple still isnt ripe and it is one ugly misshapen tomato. Fused Bloom and cracking!. Hehe Can't wait to try it though! The other tomatoes on the plant are normal but much further behind in terms of ripening.

Heck yeah Tom!

That CP is a definite winner, and the best tasting for me again this year. I think my taste buds must prefer what ever it is in the black/purple toms that make them taste the way they do. If Black from Tula tastes better than CP, I’ll be growing it for sure next season….
