A Question
Hi everyone,
If you were to cross a PL variety with a RL variety what dominant leaf would be in the offspring? Just curious about it. Thanks! Julia |

I think RL is dominant to PL. But if I'm wrong, I'm sure someone will be along shortly to correct me.

Yes, RL is dominant to PL so if the RL is homozygous dominant then all the offspring will be RL, but if the RL is heterozygous for leaf form then the results might be different.
let C= RL let c = PL CC is homozygous dominant and RL Cc is heterozygous and RL cc is homozygous recessive and PL CC X cc gives all RL plants Cc X CC gives 1/2 Cc plants that are RL and 1/2 cc which are PL. And no, you never really know if an RL is CC or Cc until you do a cross. Hope that helps.

Carolyn and Sherry,
The question came to me as I was pruning suckers this morning. Thank you for the answer. Julia Last edited by PA_Julia; May 26, 2012 at 04:01 PM. |
