Four parsley plants were purchased and placed in individual pots to make strong roots for transplanting outdoors in about two weeks. This procedure insures strong plants with well established roots. Four plants are sufficient for my needs.

I haven't ever tried the curled parsley since I prefer flat leaf.
I've got permanent parsley spots in the shade in my flower garden. It's a great reseeded, if you keep them around until a second season to flower. Since parsley is a pain to start from seeds, I love that it now starts itself for me.

I had good luck with curly parsley from seed, it took some time to germinate but it seemed to like very wet soil to get started. I accidentally over-watered the seeds and thought I'd drowned them but they sprouted soon after that and grew really well.

I grow flat leaf from seed to use in cooking and for pesto. The two I put out in the garden back in April are already huge and ready for harvesting of the first bunch of the season!
