Default Greek Salad

Main Tips:

Prepare this salad plates directly.
Do not cut ingredients very thin (to be coarsely, medium pieces), excepting pepper
Do not mix!

Ingredients for about 6 servings

1 big letucce
3 large tomatoes,
2 cucumbers,
2 peppers,
1 onion
4oz black olives (pitted),
14oz goat or sheep cheese (to be hard, and salty)
oregano to taste - the more, the better
olive oil

Method:

Place ingredients in the following order:

lettuce strips
chopped tomatoes
sliced cucumber
thin cut peppers
sliced ring onions
olives (whole)
3-4 slices of cheese, about 2''x2'' each
Sprinkle each slice of cheese with much oregano and then with olive.

It is very important not to add or remove anything
and not use other kind of cheese.

Olive oil is a must as it gives a specific taste together with oregano

Sounds wonderful.

In Northern Greece (Thessaloniki) the Greek salad is a bit different - often called a 'Village Salad':

Sweet Pepper (medium chunks)
Cucumber (sliced)
Onion (sliced)
Tomato (medium wedges)
Feta Cheese (medium chunks)
Calamata Olives (several)
Olive Oil
Vinegar
Oregano (or Italian seasoning)
Salt and Pepper

After placing first 6 ingredients in a bowl add oil and vinegar (a ratio of 3 to 1), oregano, salt, and pepper.

Toss well and eat with crusty bread (gotta have something to sop up that delicious dressing mixed with the cheese bits and veggie juices).
