Default Chocolate Hab vs Brown Hab

Craig,

Can you tell me if these are the same or different varieties? Duane got the Chocolate Hab from ebay and the Brown Hab from a GWer. I'm just wondering if they're one and the same thing.

There is a good chance that if they are not the same, they are very similar. Seems that the world of hot peppers is very complex, due to ease of crossing - there appears to be all sorts of major or minor shape variations within any particular color range.

Here is what you should expect - this is Jamaican Hot Chocolate, grown in a pot in 2003 in my driveway.

Thanks much, Craig, I knew I could count on you! Duane is getting very excited with his pepper forest. He'll be starting the Habs this weekend, which is very early for him. We got one of those heating pads from Lee Valley to give them some bottom heat. Last year, he felt like he waited forever for the White Hab to germinate.

As Craig says, lots of variation and lots of renaming and confusion. I grew out four to compare last year

Wow, they really look dangerous! I must thank zabby once again for suggesting that Duane be in charge of the 'fierce, scary, dangerous' veggies. What a motivator for a guy to get interested in gardening!
