D., the seed pack reads as 'Pertsevidnyi Polosatyi', not 'Slivovidnyi Polosatyi' (as I originally assumed for some reason)
it also says 'for greenhouses and cold frames'

Much appreciated Tania,
Ah, then Andrey was correct, Plum Tigris is also looks a little bit strange. Pepper-like shape is similar to Pertsevidny Polosaty. p.s. have you started your lettuce yet

Yes, the lettuce is started last weekend, and the seedlings are up. I also checked the cold frames in the garden, and the soil is not frozen there, and some arugula and lettuce survived the frosts, but nothing to brag about since they are looking rather pitiful... ...still have some snow in the garden... ouch... this winter is unusually cold... When are you starting your tomatoes and peppers?

D.,
btw, your 'old' seeds germinated very nicely (on the 5-7th day) - [Gran's] Portuguese Neighbour and Roger's Best Black - so I think I am not going to start the fresher seeds you included. Will grow a few plants from the older seeds and hopefully will be able to re-plenish your seed supply in 2007. 8)

Please, don't use Plum Tigris name because I've seen it for Slivovidnyi Polosatyi on one web-site, but from the last season I prefer to use only original names so no more Plum Tigris and welcome Slivovidnyi Polosatyi

Tania,
really good news about ye olde seed ...... and I think I'll give a few lettuce seeds a start - sure beats staring out into the fog This weather has been the strangest in living memory here in Vancouver. Will likely start a very short list of toms early March - looking for new digs and don't want to leave a lot behind - but I must say with the housing situation the way it is these days we will likely be looking for some time Andrey, Pertsevidnyi Polosatyi it shall be Thank you both
