I'm trying to narrow down the list, but it keeps growing! I'm trying Dester and Cherokee Green this year. I keep hearing great things about Cuostralee but have never gotten the seeds. Guess I'll have to wait till next year!

Ahhhh, thanks for the info. I must drag out my seed catalogs and see if that variety is in any of them.

Once you've been here long enough, you'll see that almost every member has a different tomato that they would consider "the best ever." 😄

It's one of the Bratka tomatoes. Tremendous producer of great tasting, mid to large-sized red tomatoes. Does well in the heat here and is a tough plant.

Have you grown "Eva Purple Ball"? How do the two compare in production and taste. I have been growing EPB, and love it, but always looking for different variety.

Bulldog,

I've grown EPB many years, and is a must grow. I have also grown Mule Team. Both are very good tasting tomatoes, but Mule Team is less sweet, more acidic in flavor.

I like EPB because of its taste and production. I am growing Mule Team this year. The first time I grew it, I didn't get many fruit from it. I really like the taste.

Comparing their flavors is almost like comparing different types of coffees or if you are a beer drinker stouts to IPA. Both good in their own way.

That is good to know. I like variety, but I only have room for about 18 plants. I like to know what I getting before I try something new.

I still haven't found my best ever! So sad

I am so looking forward to the seed swap next year! I read one thread and there are 5 new varieties on my list, lol.

That's true. That's why I'm trying Dester and a few others this year. Also how I have come up with those varieties that come back to my garden every year.
Of course some varieties that came highly recommended just didn't work as well for me. I'd say it's about 50% hit or miss on recommended varieties.
