You know what ? Big Beef wa earlier tham my EARLY varieties like Siletz, Legend, 4th of July in my garden. If JS is earlier than BgBf, I would love to grow it. If anything grows well in Canada, I think it should do ok south of the border here in Washington State. I'll watch for Steak Sandwich next year.

One of my gardening friends here had their BB ripen very early this year as well, just days after Stupice. I have never been so lucky, but BB is a great variety for me.

JS is 72 DTM & BB is 73 so they seem close, but for me (in the 2 years I have grown JS), it ripens fruit before BB. In 2014 it was 3 days earlier, and this year it was 7 days.

I am growing bIg Beef for the first time and it has been the star performer in my garden among 25 varieties. No I want to add another one like that. I have been thnking about Better Boy.

I haven't grown Big Beef, and won't be doing so, but I can speak to the other varieties you mentioned, and did so in an early post in this thread.

Supersonic and Jet Star were two of the earliest hybrids released along with Big Boy and Better Boy and Ramapo.

Production is great for the two Boys and they aren't very different since they share a common parent.

But I much prefer either Supersonic or Jet Star for TASTE and production over the Boys.

I also like Ramapo F1, or the OP version since the parentage there is known publicaly and b/c of both taste and production.

Having grown all the above, except BB, many times, you can't expect any of them to perform the same in all seasons , which is true of any variety, but the ones I noted are quite consistent from year to year and if they weren't there wouldn't be so many homegrowers still growing them.

Commercial farmers that I know long ago moved to more modern hybrids, but that's mainly b'c of holding and shipping concerns.

I grew/grow tomatoes primarily for TASTE, if production is good, that's a plus and no way can anyone speak to disease tolerances, again,IMO

In my case the " Or What ?" Provoked that emotion.
"OR" logically should be followed by a choice . "what" is not a choice.

example:
Correct : Apple or Orange ?
incorrect: Apple or what ?
