I have discovered adding a teaspoon of sugar helps to make the fluffier, too. That is for a regular biscuit batch about the size of Worth's. It isn't enough to make the dough sweet, just fluffier biscuits when they bake. Also remember to make the dough as quickly as possible working the wet in just until the flour mix is wet. Don't beat the dough any more than that. And make sure you follow Worths directions of having the oven hot before you put them in to bake. Don't let them sit on the counter when the dough is ready to go into the oven, otherwise they lose some of their rising chemical action.

I just saw a man and woman my age buying cornbread mix today.
I had to bite my tongue to keep from giving her a recipe right there on the spot.

Mmmmmmm. Thanks for the recipe and photos Worth1. Makes my mouth water!

My wife does most of the cooking and she is really good at it. But I found a simple, easy recipe for biscuits in Parade Magazine years ago that she kind of likes:

Whipping Cream Biscuits

2 cups of self-rising flour
1 cup whipping cream

Preheat oven to 450.

Combine flour and cream in mixing bowl, until just mixed. The dough will be stiff.

Transfer dough to a lightly floured board and knead 10 times.

Roll into ½-inch thickness and cut with a 2-inch biscuit cutter.

Bake 10 minutes.

Makes 10 biscuits.
