Guessing game
Hi all,
This past spring I got a spindly sick little PL seedling from a friend of mine who is a retired plant pathologist, collector and breeder. He called it "orange". Cannot recall where or when he got the seed and has grown It himself and saved seed for some time. Anyway, it grew medium smooth bright dark orange Round fruit about 6 oz. really a very good flavour. I am quite sure it is not KBX and if it had gotten off to a better start u think it would be mid season.. What other known PL orange varieties are there? KarenO |

I had a couple in mind, but after seeing the pictures - it's definitely not Valencia or Golden Jubilee. Ours were closer to yellow than orange.

It could be although the fruits on my plant were uniformly small for a beefsteak, about 6-8 oz.
I think I will grow it out under my normal ways in good conditions next year and see what it does when given a proper start. I think it will be earlier than Aunt Gertie's if grown under good conditions but won't know til then. It's a good suggestion, it might be that if it grows bigger fruit under good conditions KarenO |

Whatever the name, it looks nice.
It looks like Persimmon. Gardeneer |

I don't have any guesses, but it is a very lovely color inside and out! Rich orange all the way. Doers it taste good? fruity or sharper, sweet or robust tomato flavor?
I keep looking for an orange that is orange and not too sweet. |
