We plant top crops as soon as we can, usually towards the middle or end of May, they produce pretty constantly until mid to end of September when they slow down, but still produce until first frost

when you guys do succession planting, do you need more space to do the 2nd wave? Space is an issue for be living in the city...

I've found that in my garden Provider takes a little break but will start producing again, so two plantings of 12 plants about two to three weeks apart keeps us well supplied through the season. And they don't seem to mind being crowded very close together.

Provider. I have grow it now. If you have some extra space, do try Top Crop - plant it out in the back 40. It tastes very good and is not a typical white seeded green bean. Your mileage may vary. It is worth tying for sure.

Roma II for a bush Romano type. Tried a pole Romano last year, but they were very late, and beaned out too soon, I like them flat. Nickel for a baby bean - just because. Fortex for pole beans.

I'd try some bush beans early, then, and plant some pole beans asap to go vertical if space is an issue. As soon as the pole beans are producing, you can pull up the bush beans and plant that space with something for a late summer/fall harvest.
