No hunting for us, Copper was gun shy so we got him for a steal. He is just a big ole hairy baby. We did take him to the Coon Dog Day Festival in Saluda NC a few times to compete in the treeing/barking contest. He placed 3rd one year and he has never had a lick of training. Now the heat bothers him to much so we retired him to the air conditioned dog bed in my sons room

We would just go out and let them tree coons.
Then he would take them all over the place to the coon dog trials for competition. One time My oldest brother was on the river with them and the other guys and was showing them one of his fishing holes. He stepped into a gully and tore up his leg. This put him out of work for a while so I took off work to give him a hand. We spent the whole spring together fishing on the river. Worth |

"Where the Red Fern Grows" , is a good movie about Redbones and life. I like the older version with James Whitmore more.

Yep, my wife loves it and her favorite as a child was the Fox and the Hound, hence the name. Having a redbone named Copper was one of her childhood dreams. She loves dogs like I do growing tomatoes
