Melon seedlings.. thinning?
I've been growing melons from seed for 3 years or so. Usually I will sow one seed per pressed paper pot and plant outside when they have one or 2 mature leaves depending on the weather. This year I have sown 2 seeds per pot since they are new varieties I haven't grown yet and I purchased the seeds last year. Most of the seeds have come up and growing fast.. I know I need to get rid of one seedling per pot but how can I tell which one is strongest? I just don't have the experience to know, my first thought was tallest was strongest but now I'm unsure....

I just cut off the tallest seedling so most can fit under my light without me having to scrounge around trying to find items to but under the pots to make height adjustments. I have one of the dinkiest grow lights....
