Some new Russian seeds..

Yay! received a letter from Russia today, with seeds from Aelita & Sibirski Sad.
The varieteis are a new GWR, Siberian Malachite, with colors like Malachite Box, but smaller fruits, saladette-cherry tpe. We'll see next year - God willing.
Another one was the Aelita creation Cranberries in Sugar, Klyukve ve Sakhare, the same I tried growing before, but instead of a micro dwarf, got a large-ish bush with Roma-type fruits...

I grew both varieties 5 years ago for the first time and have been spreading seeds over the world since then. They are quite good indeed.

What I really hope to get is the small micro dwarf Klyukve ve sakhare, I like small tomato cultivars...

Too bad that ebay seller has so many tempting varieties - I need to stay away! lol

Klyukva V Sakhare is not so micro)) About 40cm high that is normal dwarf.

Don't buy too much right now. It'd be better to get seeds from me in autumn

That's the pic of the seed packet. It seems to say it is the small size (25-30 cm).

My son in law who is Russian and his family are traveling to Russia (Kazan) this July to visit family. His mom grows a lot of tomatoes. They are going to bring back a few varieties for me to try. I want to send a few varieties, small quantities for his mom to try. Any suggestions to what I can send?

Yes, KvS is compact with cherry size fruit, but usually a bit higher than mentioned on the original seedpack you have got.

I think it would be goid to know if they have a greenhouse or not and send certain heirloom seeds for their growing conditions both large fruited and canning size.

no they don't have retail e-shop and don't accept Paypal even selling wholesale from 20 packs per 1 variety...

Paypal is not so popular in CIS... We prefer cash or Webmoney.

Are you at all familiar with something called "snow fairy" I saw it listed at bakers as a dwarf from Russia, with golfball size fruit on a plant a little over one foot high.

The mail service from Russia was faster than that from the U.K... the letter arrived in a few days, whereas it has often takes weeks and weeks from England.

I'm growing Klyukva V Sakhare for the first time and my plant is almost 5' tall and was about 4' tall before it started making what looks like cherry type tomatoes.

Glad you found some new types to grow that make you happy. : ) Hope you enjoy them all. Just close one eye and that way you will only buy half of what you see. ; )

The Kl v S seeds I bought two years ago produced a large bush plant (det., yes..) that looked nothing like that picture (wonder what it was...the fruits were like Roma tomss), so I wanted to try another seed source to see if I can get it right this time. Small is beautiful - especially when growing in containers and tired with all the staking, tying, supporting, re-adjusting etc...
But I am growing several indet varieties as well, viva la difference!

New to me, Jeannine, in the sense I just got them in the mail. Will try them next year, the earliest.
The Siberian Malachite is probably quite a newcomer (of course, Andrey is up-to-date, but the general public I mean...), and not that spread outside Eastern Europe as, say, many Black or other Russian heirlooms / commercial varieties.

It's interesting that I did see many unknown-to-me commercial varieties in that vendor's site, and only a few known Russian heirlooms (Black Prince, Orange Banana etc...).. I don't know if that is a reflection of Aelita's seed assortment (probably not), or a sign of what is popular in Russia right now.
